Early in the morning, yesterday. My son Roberto called me: “Dad, I heard on radio news something that seemed to speak about of your novel. A movie screened at the Film Festival in Rome tells a story similar to yours. Do you know anything? Go to see what”.
I read some newspapers. “Her” by Spike Jonze, is the most romantic film of recent years. Preceded by rave reviews at the New York Festival this movie has welcomed by a long and warm applause of the Auditorium in Rome. Great success.
A writer, abandoned by his wife, try a new software. Samantha, this is the name of the new “friend” – who has the voice of Scarlett Johansson – becomes his confidant; without a body, with a cybernetic soul, that along time acquires its own personality. Theodore, finished in a vacuum sentimental, wakes up and gets excited.
Spike Jonze makes us take a Journey into the depths of love, feelings, and human relations in the contemporary world, so fast and frantic.
Yes, it looks like my story in “Silence of eyes”, edited in 2009, but it is not. It seems. The idea, the contest and the concept are very similar. That’s true.
Mine is little more complex and “complete”, as always the books are.
I talk of sentiments and special relationship (between human and machine), but I give to Music the challenging task of exploring the emotions. The music and the voice of Leebee (dialogues with Rehin) are the special way to explore the feeling and the mood of “falling in love” emotions. I quote nearly 50 tracks of music; very special sample of good music. I have chosen each song, personally, to activate in our brain that particular feeling and emotion. A good feeling and a fantastic mood. Like a soundtrack.
Finally. I am happy that someone have had the same idea about this “new” but ancient (sentimental) relationship in the new era.
I would like to meet Scarlet Johansson, Spike Jonze, Joaquin Phonix and Rooney Mara; it could be fantastic but I think it will be impossible. Do you?
Is there anyone who could help me?
Thank you to All. Renato Gentile
